When to use it

  • Document scans that came out inverted because the page was placed the wrong way
  • Phone photos accidentally taken upside down (camera held with the lens facing away)
  • Reflection / surreal compositions where the subject needs to appear flipped
  • Old scanned slides or negatives that loaded inverted
  • Memes and creative posts where 180° creates a deliberate visual flip

Frequently asked questions

Does this upload my photo to a server?
No. The transform runs entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your image data never leaves your device, so the tool works offline once the page is loaded and there's no privacy risk.
180° rotation vs flip - aren't they the same?
Visually similar but mathematically distinct. A 180° rotation spins the image around its center, swapping both axes. A horizontal flip mirrors only left-to-right, a vertical flip only top-to-bottom. 180° rotation = horizontal flip + vertical flip combined.
Will the dimensions of my photo change?
No. A 180° rotation keeps the same width and height as the source - unlike 90° or 270° rotations which swap them. The file size stays effectively identical too.
Can I rotate by an arbitrary angle (e.g. 45°)?
This tool handles 90°, 180°, and 270° because they're lossless pixel operations. For arbitrary angles (which require interpolation and add transparent corners), use our AI editor's rotate-and-fill mode.
Is 180° rotation lossless?
Yes. Every pixel keeps its exact value - we just rearrange where they sit. JPG re-encoding can introduce tiny compression artefacts, but the rotation itself loses zero quality.
Is there a file size limit?
Yes - 40 MB per image. Most phone photos are well under this limit. If your file is larger, compress it first with our compress tool.
