Frequently asked questions

Does this upload my photo to a server?
No. The transform runs entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your image data never leaves your device, so the tool works offline once the page is loaded and there's no privacy risk.
What's the difference between flip and rotate?
Rotate spins the image around its center (90°, 180°, etc.); flip mirrors it across an axis. Horizontal flip swaps left and right, like looking in a mirror. Vertical flip turns it upside down through the horizontal axis.
Does flipping change the file size?
Slightly - the same pixels are saved in a new arrangement, so re-encoding can shift the size by a few percent. The visual quality stays identical.
Can I flip vertically too?
Yes - we have a separate flip-vertical tool. Vertical flip turns the image upside down rather than mirroring it left-to-right.
Why does my selfie look 'off' after flipping?
Front cameras mirror by default so your face matches what you see in real life. Flipping back makes it look like a normal photo, which is what other people see when they look at you - that's why it can feel unfamiliar.
Is there a file size limit?
Yes - 40 MB per image. Most phone photos are well under this limit. If your file is larger, compress it first with our compress tool.
