JPG, PNG, or WebP - up to 40 MB.

  2. 2

    Pick a quality level

We default to 80% quality - typically a 60-80% size reduction with no visible loss. Slide for more or less.

  3. 3

    Download the smaller file

Compare original vs compressed size side-by-side. Save the result when you're happy.

Frequently asked questions

Will I notice the quality drop?
At 80% quality (our default), most photos are visually identical to the original at 60-80% smaller. At 60% quality you may notice slight softening on solid colors and flat backgrounds. We recommend trying 80% first and lowering only if you need more savings.
Why is the file so much smaller?
JPEG and WebP are lossy formats - they discard imperceptible detail (especially in smooth gradients) to save space. The trick is dropping detail your eye can't see while keeping detail it can. Our default settings hit a quality/size balance that works for most photos.
Can I compress PNGs too?
Yes - PNGs convert to optimized PNG (lossless) or to WebP/JPG (lossy, much smaller). For photos, PNG โ†’ JPG often saves 80%+ with no visible difference.
Is there a difference between compress and resize?
Yes. Resize changes dimensions (1920ร—1080 โ†’ 800ร—450). Compress keeps dimensions but reduces file size by reducing per-pixel quality. Use both together for maximum savings on big photos.
What's the highest compression I can apply?
Down to 10% quality, but anything below 50% is rarely useful for photos - it introduces visible 'JPEG artefacts'. For very small target sizes, combine compression with resize.
Does this work for HEIC photos from iPhone?
Yes - drop a HEIC and the tool decodes it in-browser, then re-encodes to your chosen output format with the requested quality.
