- 2
Draw blur regions
Click and drag on the photo to draw rectangles or ellipses over what you want hidden. Add as many as you need - drag to reposition, corner handles to resize.
- 3
Tune intensity, save
Slider goes from light blur (2 px) to heavy mosaic-equivalent (80 px). Save in any format - JPG, PNG, WebP.
Why use this online tool
Multi-region
Add as many blur regions as you need - hide three faces in a group photo with three rects. Each region can be a rectangle or ellipse.
Drag-to-create + drag-to-move + corner-resize
Click an empty area to draw a new region; click an existing one to move it; drag a corner handle to resize. The X button removes a region.
Real Gaussian blur
Uses the canvas Gaussian filter (the real one, same as Photoshop / Lightroom) - smooth fall-off across the region edges, not a faked CSS approximation.
Free, browser-side
Photo never leaves your device. No upload, no signup, no per-region cost.
When to use it
- Hiding faces of bystanders before posting a photo to social media
- Blurring car license plates before listing in a marketplace ad
- Redacting names, addresses, or ID numbers in document scans
- Removing sensitive screen content (passwords, tokens) from screenshots
- Blurring children's faces in event / school photos before publishing
Frequently asked questions
- Does this upload my photo to a server?
- No. The blur runs entirely in your browser using the canvas Gaussian filter. Your image never leaves your device.
- How many regions can I blur at once?
- Unlimited. Each region adds a small overhead but performance stays smooth even with 10+ regions on a 12 MP photo.
- Will the blur be reversible by an attacker?
- A 30+ pixel Gaussian blur is irreversible for practical purposes - the information is genuinely lost. For paranoid use cases (court evidence, witness protection) consider pixelate-photo or our solid-fill tool in the AI editor.
- What's the difference between rectangle and ellipse?
- Rectangle is sharp-edged - good for objects with rectangular outlines (signs, plates, screens). Ellipse blurs to a soft circular edge - looks more natural over faces and round objects. Both blur identically; only the masked shape differs.
- Can I undo a region?
- Yes - click the X button on the active region to delete it. Each region's outline shows on the preview so you can see exactly what's blurred.
