When to use it
- Moody portraits where colour adds character but contrast needs to lift
- Landscape photography emphasising weather, sky, and atmosphere
- Concert and stage photos where backlight and crowd silhouettes dominate
- Travel photos that need a cinematic 'travel-blog hero' edit
- Sport and action shots benefiting from punchy mid-tone contrast
Frequently asked questions
- Does this upload my photo to a server?
- No. The filter runs entirely in your browser using direct ImageData pixel manipulation. Your image never leaves your device.
- Drama vs vivid - what's the difference?
- Vivid pumps saturation and mild contrast for a 'punchy / colourful' look. Drama keeps colour subdued (slight desat) but pushes contrast and shadow crush hard - the result is moodier and more cinematic, not brighter or more cheerful.
- Drama vs noir?
- Noir desaturates fully - it's B&W with a heavy contrast curve. Drama keeps your colour palette but applies similar contrast and shadow work. Pick drama when colour is part of the story; noir when you want pure mood and form.
- Will drama clip my photo's detail?
- At 100% intensity it can crush very dark shadows and brighten very bright highlights past detail recovery. Drop to 60-80% if you have important detail in deep shadows or bright skies.
- Can I undo the filter?
- Yes - the filter is applied to a copy of your photo. Drop the intensity slider to 0% to see the original, switch presets, or just don't download and the source is unchanged.
- Can I combine this with other filters?
- In this widget, one filter at a time. For chained effects (e.g. fade + vignette + grain), open the result in our editor where you can stack adjustments.
