When to use it
- Outdoor portraits where the source sun was too warm
- Architectural photos that need a clean modern feel
- Sci-fi / tech editorial work emphasising 'futuristic'
- Travel photos of cold climates - mountains, snow, North-Atlantic seas
- Indoor lifestyle photos where you want a 'rainy-day cosy' palette
Frequently asked questions
- Does this upload my photo to a server?
- No. The filter runs entirely in your browser using direct ImageData pixel manipulation. Your image never leaves your device.
- Cool vs chrome - which one for cinematic?
- Cool is the simpler effect - just a blue colour cast. Chrome layers cool shift with luminance-weighted highlight desaturation, producing a more metallic / neo-noir look. Pick cool for clean cinematic, chrome for moody and metallic.
- Will cool make my photo look unnatural?
- Past about 70% intensity skin tones can start looking lifeless. Cool works best on landscapes, architecture, and outdoor scenes where the cast feels environmental. Drop intensity for portraits.
- Cool vs underwater photo correction?
- Underwater photos are already heavily blue - applying cool makes them worse. Use our warm filter (or our editor's white-balance picker) to neutralise that. Cool is for photos that started warm or neutral and need a colder feel.
- Can I undo the filter?
- Yes - the filter is applied to a copy of your photo. Drop the intensity slider to 0% to see the original, switch presets, or just don't download and the source is unchanged.
- Can I combine this with other filters?
- In this widget, one filter at a time. For chained effects (e.g. fade + vignette + grain), open the result in our editor where you can stack adjustments.
